Why is the bit depth of RAW photos important when editing them?

Most digital SLR cameras can capture photos in RAW format. This gives you much more control when editing the photos, like adjusting contrast, exposure and white balance.

But not all cameras save the same RAW data. The main difference between them is bit depth. Most beginner cameras like Canon EAOS 100D save the data in 12 bit, more advanced ones 14 bit, and most high-end cameras 16 bit. Now what is the advantage of a higher bit depth? Continue Reading »

If you do this, the new page will be shown in the same iframe with the colorbox design around it. Now if this new page doesn’t fit in the iframe, this will look quite messy and won’t be usable. Best colour card ever

Light-test.com is dedicated to those light test shoots of photo sessions to test the light and to calibrate white balance and colors. Some of them are quite funny because the people involved know that these shots won’t be exposed to public, but this site actually does that!

Reminds me of when I was developing sets of fashion shots. The model was holding the colour card and making really funny faces. Unfortunately I can’t show samples!

rebrand BP

Greenpeace UK are doing a competion changing the BP logo:

“BP has a really nice logo, but it doesn’t really suit their dirty business. To me, a shiny green logo doesn’t really suit a company that is responsible for the oil currently gushing into the Gulf of Mexico and onto the beaches of Louisiana, or the company that’s sanctioning environmental disaster by being poised to invest in the Canadian Tar Sands. “

They are calling for designers and everybody else to change the BP logo. The winner will get a Greepeace goodie pack, but it’s all about the good cause, right? You can see stuff already submitted here.
